And Now... For a Little Bit of Culture

"Let the Children Play!"

They stand on the field with their heart beating fast.

The whistle has blown, the dice has been cast.

Mum and Dad can't help so they stand alone.

A goal at this moment would send the team home.

The ball at their feet, they kick and it misses.

There's a moan from the crowd, some boos and some hisses.

A thoughtless voice cries "take off the bum".

Tears fill their eyes it's no longer fun.

If you're ever tempted to shout or to groan, remember, it's a child out there who stands all alone.

So open your heart, give them a break.

It's moments like this a player you can make.

Keep this in mind, please don't forget, they are only children not adults yet!

Glenavon Parents are Asked Not to Park at the Solly

Glenavon parents are asked to be more considerate when parking cars at The Glen and The Solly.

Cars should be parked such that pathways on the Glen are kept clear at all times to enable emergency access.

Please do not to park in the lane leading upto The Solly. Use the Glen car park.

Areas adjacent to equipment containers on the Glen must also be kept clear to allow movement of goals and equipment.

Parking at the Solly has now become such a concern that parents could jeopardise their child's' continued involvement with the club.

Team managers are requested to make visiting opponents aware of the problems inconsiderate car parking can cause.

Glenavon Junior Football Club Statement

Clarification of the Respect Barrier Ruling

Without exception all supporters must stand behind Respect Barriers during Glenavon matches both home and away.

If the Respect Barrier does not run the full length of the touchline ie. corner flag to corner flag, parents and supporters must stand 2 metres back from the edge of the pitch in line with the barrier.

To ensure that supporters adhere to the Respect Barrier rule, lines have now been marked on both pitches at the Glen, spaced 2 metres back from the touchline.

In addition to the above, it must be noted that you may not carry out referees assistant (linesman/woman) duties unless you possess full CRB certification, obtained via GJFC.

As a Charter Standard Club Glenavon JFC fully endorses the FA's Respect Campaign and Safeguarding Children Policy.

Thank you for your anticipated co-operation regarding this matter. Please continue to enjoy your football.

Glenavon U14 Take KO Cup

Alan Griffiths has led his U14 side to a fanatastic, Wallasey Junior League, Knockout Cup success, beating Upton 2-1 in a very tight game.

Alan said after the match "In a game of two halves, Ethan Forster scored with a 40 yard (no lie) free kick. Tony Neeson added the second shortly before half time, to give Glenavon a well deserved lead.

Upton made a fantastic comeback second half but the 14's defended magnificently, with stand in keeper Joe Wingfield, producing a MOM performance to ensure they held out to the end. They were brilliant!"

GJFC Website Visits Top 90k

Glenavonjfc.com is proud to announce that, in the four years since we started counting hits on our site, the visitor count has reached 90,000.

That's not bad for a junior football club with only 200 members!

We like to think we provide a valuable service in keeping our players and their families informed of all that's going on at the club.

We can announce events and keep you up to date with team stats but it's up to you to drive what appears on YOUR club website and individual team pages.

If you have a written article or a photograph of your team in a new kit or at a recent tournament, send us the info a we will post it for you.

If needed, we can now send blanket text messages out to parents to keep them upto date with kick offs and match cancellations.

You can also follow us on Twitter @glenavonjfc.
