The Glen recently played host to a Glenavon U12 Lads v Dads game in the presence of former Everton player and current pro Danny Cadamateri. U12 Manager Nick Mernock takes up the story:
"Following their heartbreaking defeat on penalties in the semi-final of the Challenge Cup, the stakes in the under 12’s season closing Dads v Lads fixture at the Glen on Tuesday night, were raised by the inclusion in the Dads' team of former Everton star and current Huddersfield Town striker Danny Cadamarteri.
Danny, now the under 12’s highest profile supporter, kindly risked getting a good kicking by the boys and played his part with a couple of goals in a competitive 8-8 draw, which also saw some over zealous desire to win by certain fathers who will remain nameless.Two fine saves by guest Dads goalkeeper Paddy Woods, got Danny out of trouble after he missed in the penalty shoot out, and saw the Dads win on penalties 4-3.
